Streamlining of the Badge Registration Process
The Gen Con Customer Service team receives hundreds of questions a year about how to get a badge for Gen Con, and specifically regarding the differences between Pre-Registration and Registration. To simplify things, Gen Con will have just one price for each badge type in 2018. We have adjusted pricing to uniform costs to reflect this change. You can buy your badge beginning on January 14, 2018. Badges will remain on sale while supplies last. Updated 2018 pricing for all badge types can be found on the Badge Information page.
Family Fun Day Simplification
In prior years, Gen Con offered a package of four family fun badges at a discounted rate. After reviewing Gen Con 50 data, we found that the typical Family Fun Day purchaser bought two or fewer badges as part of their Family Fun Day Package. To address this inefficiency, they will replace the Family Fun Day Package.
Don’t worry, Sunday badges will remain a great value, but you will not need to purchase the package to attend the convention on that day. Instead, Gen Con will offer single-attendee Sunday badges at a flat rate of $15. In addition, GenCon will raise the maximum age that children can enter the convention free of charge.
Kids Ages 10-And-Under Now Free
Gen Con understands that introducing kids to tabletop gaming is important, which is why they have decided to expand children’s programming. At prior Gen Con conventions, children ages eight-and-under received free admission into the convention with a Child Wristband. Starting with Gen Con 2018, children ages 10-and-under will now be able to attend free of charge. Children ages 11-and-up will need a regular badge to gain access to the convention.
Housing registration for Gen Con 2018 will open on Sunday, February 11. In partnership with housing provider Q-rooms, some adjustments have been made to the housing registration process. Room assignments are now unique and personal to the Gen Con account holder who purchased the badge and requested the assignment. In 2018, room assignments cannot be transferred, traded, or otherwise re-assigned among Gen Con attendees. To register for housing, you must first purchase a Gen Con 2018 badge. Room assignments will stay connected with your account until housing registration closes or the room assignment is cancelled. For more information, head over to the Travel and Housing page.
