UKGE featuring: Gale Force Nine

We could not not stop by the booth of Gale Force Nine, being super hyped for D&D. And indeed Tyrants and of the Underdark was there and cought my eye from minute 0. A deck builder, in Forgotten Realms, with area control features. What else could I ask for? It has all the classics of a deckbuilder, with a great theme, as you assume the role of the leader of a drow house, and aim to control Underdark. So during the course of the game, not only do you have to refine your deck, but you also need to control important locations of Underdark. How cool is that?

Leaving how overexcited I am about this game, we need to move on to another great hit: Doctor Who: Time of the Daleks. This is a semi-coop game. And although these are not my cup of tea, I must admit I liked this one! GF9 website could not describe it better: "In Doctor Who: Time of the Daleks, players take on the role of the Doctor, travelling throughout time and space, finding new companions and having adventures to repair the web of time. Players do this by overcoming challenges. The Doctor can overcome most challenges he encounters, but he always needs his Companions to help give him an edge. Players must cooperate to stop the Daleks, while trying to get their TARDIS to Gallifrey first, to prevent Davros from invading the Matrix in the first place." Essentially what I don't like about coops is all the backstabbing that takes place without you knowing it. But the theme of Doctor Who fits so nicely into this one. Stunning minis and such a nice integration of the theme in the mechanics. As a Doctor you cannot refuse to offer your help, but you need to always remember your personal goal too. Also, as a Doctor you always come back to life as another Doctor, so players switch Doctors if one shall perish. The game includes the 1st, 4th, 5th, 10th, 11th and 12th Doctors and the rest will come out in the future as expansions.

Moving on, Stewie is having a party! And we are all invited to Family Guy: Stewies Sexy Party. Well not always sexy. Could end up being offensive. Or gross. Or whatever the spinner decides it to be. This is a social game where you will be embarassed at some point and you are going to enjoy it so much. Essentially this is a word game, where you have to complete a phrase by filling in the blanks. Then when the story is complete, the Host reads it out loud and the party animals decide if it fits the theme. It does? You score Martini Points. Or drink martinis if you prefer so.

Also, while at the GF9 booth, we heard a rumor.. New Firefly game? With more emphasis on the characters and not a pick up and deliver as the previous one? My notes are messy so can't tell more about this, so we have to wait and see
