Top 10 GenCon 2014

As every year, GenCon is highly anticipated, as it is the first official preview for the games that will be published within the following year. These are what the BGNews team thinks as the top 10 games that will be in the spotlight in GenCon, and will travel at the board gamers tables this upcoming year.

1. Warhammer 40.000 Conquest: FFG's new LCG game is sure to make an impression and steal the hearts of many gamers, especially since its theme is based on the very successful WH 40K universe.

2. Doomtown: Reloaded: One of the most important news this year was AEG's announcement that it will re-publish Doomtown, a card game with special game mechanics that borrows its theme from Deadlands, as an expandable card game.

3. Dead of Winter: A Crossroads Game: One more game that has created a fuss around it before its official launch, Dead of Winter is a semi-cooperative game by Plaid Hat Games

4. The Witcher Adventure Game: Although little is known for this specific board game, the fact that it is a transfer of the well known video game The Witcher to a board game makes it a highly anticipated title that will probably bring more new players to the hobby.

5. The Battle of Five Armies: This is surely a promising game, since this title is based on the tested mechanics of the great War of the Ring, but is also going to add new characteristics.

6. Sons of Anarchy: Men of Mayhem: One more title that is thought to bring more players to the hobby is Sons of Anarchy: Men of Mayhem, as it is a game based on the TV show that knows great success. The fact that this title will be published by Gale Force nine, the company that brought is games like Spartacus and FireFly, is something that guarantees the game quality.

7. Samurai Spirit: This is the new cooperative game by Antoine Bauza, known for 7 Wonders and Hanabi, and therefore it is thought to be a great addition to its category and not only.

8. Zombie 15': A real time cooperative zombie game by Iello. No need to add something, since you have all the keywords for a title that is thought to be a huge success.

9. Shadows of Brimstone: After its huge Kickstarter success, Shadows of Brimstone will be officially launched in GenCon, where it will also make its first official appearence.

10. King of New York: King of New York is the new game of Richard Garfield and as its name implies, it is a game that keeps the basic idea from King of Tokyo, but adds new characteristics to its gameplay.
